About us

Keelby Village Hall is a large, well-used, Grade II listed historic building that is genuinely at the heart of our community.  Our Historic England Listing Number is 1063368 and our address is Village Hall, King Street, Keelby, Grimsby, Lincolnshire.  DN41 8EE.

The diverse and eclectic range of activities, events and functions offered means there is something for everyone to participate in and enjoy.  For example, the Hall is home to Keelby Luncheon Club (inaugurated in 1992), the much longer established Keelby Senior Citizens' Christmas Party and the perennially popular Keelby Pantomime.  NB.  The first Keelby Pantomime was 'Aladdin' in 1981, with this year's highly enjoyable and hugely successful 'Cinderella' being the fortieth such production.  Heartfelt thanks go to everyone involved!

Please support us throughout this, our forty-second year.  The property was purchased by the community, for the community and the Village Hall Committee created to maintain, manage and run it in 1982; a transaction made possible through community fundraising with the balance of the cost being met by generous grant awards.  We are a Registered Charity with the Charity Commission Registration Number 512808.  The Lottery provides us with an important source of additional, regular, unrestricted income that is also environmentally sustainable because it is delivered entirely digitally!

The Keelby Village Hall Committee is working in partnership with The Health Tree Foundation (and with the support of Keelby Parish Council) in preparation for this year’s Keelby Gala, which is to be held on the village green on Saturday, 29th June.  Please note the date!  You are warmly invited to join us for the next Gala planning meeting on Tuesday, 30th April, in the Hall, commencing at 7.00 p.m.  Your ideas and input will greatly assist in securing the delivery of another highly enjoyable and memorable community event!

We need your help so we can continue to improve our award-winning Hall and all it has to offer both now and for the future.  Our ground floor offers full accessibility to guests with disabilities and features state of the art toilets that also include baby changing provision.  The Dance Room and Snooker Room on the first floor are reached by a stairway.   The Hall is also proud to host one of Keelby's two community defibrillators (AEDs).  It is in the yellow cabinet to the left of the front door as you approach the building.  (The other is at the Sports Pavilion alongside Stallingborough Road).  Keelby Village Hall is a Wi-Fi hotspot and indeed, in 2009, had the distiction of being the first community building in West Lindsey to be enabled as such by the District Council!  NB.  Our snooker table was professionally rebaized and had new cushions fitted in November 2019, whilst the completely new (and extended) ground floor toilet facilities were installed during the coronavirus closure period in the summer of 2021.  The latter project was made possible by a generous award of funding from the FCC Communities Foundation enabled by a 'match funding' contribution from West Lindsey District Council.   Among the other amenties available are a fully equipped modern kitchen, a piano, a stage with up to date lighting and sound systems and an immaculately maintained garden.  Keelby Village Hall is the pre-eminent community facility in our area and a venue of choice for all manner of activities, events and functions.

Construction commenced 127 years ago in 1897 (as the Church Mission) and the foundation stone laid by the Right Honourable Victoria, Countess of Yarborough, in November of that year can still be seen.  A subsequent substantial bequest (in the Estate of Miss Elizabeth Dawson) enabled the extension of the building in 1910 (when it became the Church Institute) and took the form we now know as Keelby Village Hall.

We are presently fundraising to enable the sustainable refurbishment and reinstallation of the Hall's iconic clock as an appropriate and befitting way to mark the remarkable 70 year reign of HM Queen Elizabeth II.  The clock, which is contemporaneous with the building, has not been operational for some years now.  Please support us in delivering this important project on behalf of the Keelby community.

Please see our notice boards for the Hall's current competitive, modest, charge rates and for details of forthcoming events.  For bookings (or enquiries) please speak with Mr Fred White, our Booking Secretary and Keyholder, on 01469 560492 or 07305 184389 (preferred).

Thank you for your valued support and good luck!

Yours sincerely,

Keelby Village Hall Committee
